Together with PT Geo Sinergi Utama, Young Women from Local Communities Prepare for Their Career Future
Career development for young women in Indonesia continues to gain momentum as collaboration between industry, education, and local communities opens wider employment opportunities. One inspiring example comes from East Luwu, South Sulawesi, where vocational training programs help prepare young talent to enter the professional workforce with confidence and competence.
As part of its commitment to empowering local human resources, PT Vale Indonesia Tbk continues to support vocational education programs for youths across Loeha Raya. These initiatives aim to enhance technical and administrative skills that align with real industry needs, ensuring participants are better prepared for sustainable employment.
Vocational Training as a Pathway to Career Development
This vocational training program represents the third batch for young people from several villages, including Rante Angin, Loeha, Bantilang, Masiku, and Tokalimbo. In previous years, the program focused on heavy equipment operation. However, this year the curriculum expands into technical and administrative fields such as welding, electrical work, and office administration.
Implemented in collaboration with the East Luwu Regency Government and Politeknik Sorowako, the program is fully funded. Participants receive accommodation, learning facilities, and allowances, ensuring inclusive access to career development for young women in Indonesia and their peers.
A Young Woman’s Journey Toward Professional Growth
Among the participants is Indrawati Sinur, a young woman from Rante Angin Village. She joined the Office Administration vocational training to expand her knowledge while preparing for professional responsibilities. As a postgraduate graduate from Hasanuddin University, Indrawati demonstrates how education and vocational upskilling can work together to strengthen career readiness.
Previously, she had secured an administrative role with PT Geo Sinergi Utama for a PT Vale project in Tanamalia. While awaiting project commencement and placement, she proactively used this opportunity to further develop her skills.
“I joined the training while waiting for work placement. I am grateful to gain new knowledge and receive full support during the program,” she shared.
Strengthening Skills and Professional Confidence
During the training, Indrawati gained valuable experience through direct interaction with lecturers from Politeknik Sorowako and fellow participants from across East Luwu. This environment fostered collaboration, adaptability, and communication—key competencies in modern workplaces.
Other participants also expressed optimism. Sahabuddin Jaris from Loeha Village emphasized how welding and drilling skills learned during training increased his employability. Meanwhile, Muh Aynul Yaqin from Bantilang Village utilized the program to deepen his electrical engineering knowledge during his postgraduate academic break.
Industry Commitment to Local Talent
Local leaders and industry representatives strongly support this initiative. Village Head of Loeha, Hamka Tandioga, highlighted the program’s role in strengthening community capacity and encouraged youth participation. Meanwhile, PT Vale’s External Relations Director, Endra Kusuma, reaffirmed that prioritizing local talent remains a core company value.
